How to Replace Car Windshield Wipers
Materials Needed:
- New windshield wipers
- Clean cloth or towel
- A screwdriver (if necessary)
Steps:
- Park the Car and Turn Off the Engine
Make sure the car is parked on a flat surface with the engine turned off. Turn on the windshield wipers for a few seconds to raise the wiper blades, making it easier to remove them.
- Lift the Wiper Arms
Carefully lift the wiper arms away from the windshield. Be sure not to let them snap back onto the glass, as this could damage the windshield.
- Remove the Old Wiper Blades
Most wiper blades have a small tab or clip that holds them in place on the wiper arm. Press or slide the tab to release the wiper blade from the arm. Pull the blade off the arm gently.
- Prepare the New Wiper Blades
Take the new wiper blades out of the packaging. Check that they match the size and type of the old wiper blades. If necessary, use a screwdriver to attach the correct adapter to the new blades.
- Install the New Wiper Blades
Align the new wiper blade with the wiper arm, ensuring it is correctly positioned. Slide the wiper blade onto the arm until it clicks or locks into place.
- Test the Wiper Blades
After installing the new blades, gently lower the wiper arms back onto the windshield. Turn on the car's engine and test the wipers to make sure they move smoothly and effectively clean the windshield.
- Clean the Wiper Blades
Use a clean cloth to wipe the new wiper blades to remove any dust or debris. This helps maintain their performance and longevity.
- Dispose of the Old Wiper Blades
Safely dispose of the old wiper blades in an appropriate recycling container.
